Let me share whatIfound when researching your “Bible” in regards to the definition of marriage: regarding your King Abraham, who was the father of3religions, it says of his wife, “The daughter of my father though not of my mother, and she became my wife” (King James Bible, Genesis 20.12);Adetailed list of King David’s eight wives can be found in1Chronicles 3.1-9. Of King Solomon’s wives it says, “And he had seven hundred wives, princesses, and three hundred concubines: and his wives turned away his heart (King James Bible1Kings 11.3). This next example is ofaman who has been discovered to be guilty of rapingawoman, “The man that lay with her shall give 50 shekels of silver, and she shall be his wife” (King James Bible Deuteronomy 22.28-29) defining marriage asaunion betweenaman who has rapedawoman and was subsequently required to then purchase her from her family and take her as his wife.
From just these four passages the bible speaks of several different types of acceptable marriages; one of incest, one ofarape victim and her abuser, aking with eight wives followed by his son with many hundreds of wives. So before you begin spouting off about the “sanctity of marriage”, clean up your own hypocritical bible marriages before you go sticking your narrow-minded, sanctimonious, bigoted, bible thumping nose in to mine.
