10 Shows You're Not Watching ... But Should Be

Network TV is on haitus (or worse that weird summer junkfood tv schedule). Matter-of-fact, why are you watching network in the first place?!

Cue up your Hulu and your Netflix subscriptions that you've been paying for and neglecting.

It's time to get your mofo money's worth. While you're doing your food prep for that epic "white" party you throw every summer, you can binge watch these shows gilt free as you marinate those ribs and perfect that pitcher of mojitos.

1. Orange is the New Black

It just came out a week ago and it's not too late to jump on the band wagon and pretend you're in the know. Plus it's from the creator of Weeds, is mad funny and features hot lesbian action if you're into that.

2. Hit & Miss

Chloe Sevigny is a tranny hitwoman with a heart of gold! What's not to like? It'll help you forgot how annoying she was on Big Love AND that career breaking scene of hers in Brown Bunny. Ok, nothing will make you forget Brown Bunny.

3. Blue

This is a web series that has national commercials! If that's not changing the landscape of TV, I don't know what is. Julia Stiles hooking? It's like Lumen ran away from Dexter and started turning tricks. Sign me up.

4. The Fall

For all of us mad that her role on Hannibal is only wetting our appetite for more, The Fall is Gillian Anderson solving murder mysteries. This woman is on some sort of Death Becomes Her drug, because she looks hotter than she did 15 years ago. Who needs Mulder? Call me when that shit show Californication has become is cancelled and he's booked something that doesn't stink.

5. Fresh Meat

This UK comedy is another prime example on how inferior US sitcoms are. If you miss Inbetweeners and no, I don't mean the bungled up US version, check out Fresh Meat. Of course, Vod is my favorite character, but there's something in there for everybody. Currently in Series 2.

6. Top of the Lake

So you missed Jane Campion's miniseries during it's run on Sundance, eh? Or was it IFC? No matter! It's on the Netflix for your binge watching pleasure. Watch Peggy get down and dirty in Australia and schooled by none other than Holly Hunter as a hippie shaman psychic.

7. House of Cards

House of Cards is everything that TV should be. Interesting, engaging, edge of your seat, witty, misdirection, heart pounding and jaw dropping. You just get so invested!

8. Hemlock Grove

I'm adding this for a completely different reason ... it's so bad!!! I don't mean 1980s bad where it actually means good. I mean it's hilariously awful for no reason. You have good actors with interesting plot lines that are poorly directed, but here's the thing ... you can't stop watching it! I've talked to 5 people (YES, FIVE WHOLE PEOPLE) and they said the same thing. They couldn't stop watching it. It's beautifully shot, and there's beautiful eye candy (Yes, that's Alex Skarsgård's brother. Yes, it's funny that his name is Bill) and you're gonna want to keep watching to see you guessed the twist right. SPOILER: You didn't.

Also, it's renewed for a 2nd season.

SIDEBAR: You're also going to wonder why they never give the hot black chick any chapstick. They never try to "ugly" up any white lady detectives. And it's not working. She's still pretty. She just looks like she's a habitual loser of Burt's Beeswax.

9. Pramface

Pramface is about an underaged guy (or bloke if you will) that lies about his age to get into a college girl's pants, one night stand ensues and unwanted pregnancy. IT'S A COMEDY! No, seriously. It is. Pram means stroller in British talk otherwise known as English.

10. Prisoner's Wives

It's exactly how it sounds. It's like the more dramatic version of Orange is the New Black with er ... heterosexual relationships? Just watch it. I know what I'm talking about! It's like if Army Wives was ... good.

HONORABLE MENTION: Top Boy

Why only Honorable? This Hulu show about lost boys on the streets of London is only 4 episodes. Try not to get too hooked.
