I’ve seen scores of female-abusing ads. These are the five worst.
1. 1. Used BMWs, Greece
0–69 in 6.9 seconds. She looks about 15. Ad agency: BBDO Greece.
2. 2. Bacardi, Israel
Online promotion that was quickly pulled. Not quick enough. Women worldwide lambasted Bacardi over this inconceivably idiotic idea. Ad agency: McCann Digital, Tel Aviv.
3. 3. Coopers Light Lager, Singapore
Get it? Because of the lower alcohol content, you horny guys will only be wearing partial beer goggles—saving you from banging fat chicks. The ad won a bronze lion at Cannes, which prompted Coopers to issue a statement saying they never “officially” commissioned the ad. Ad agency: JWT Singapore.
4. 4. Duncan Quinn, USA
Duncan sells handmade ready-to-wear and bespoke men’s suits: “Savile Row meets Rock ‘n Roll.” Fashion is Death, they say.

allies4 11 months agoHere’s the deal: yes, men are also stereotyped against, and obviously that’s bad. However, the sexualization and dehumanization of women taking place in these ads can and does lead to the belief that sexual violence or violence of any kind against women is okay, since women are ‘second-class citizens’ anyways. Women beating up or raping men does happen, but it is MUCH less frequent than the violence perpetrated against women, and it is also much more frequent and accepted for men to catcall or leer at women than it is for women to do the same to men. It’s pretty damn scary to always be surrounded by people who are stronger than you (and fully capable of causing you harm) that believe you - by virtue of being a woman - are there for the taking, whether or not you want them. That’s a big reason for why sexism against women must be taken very seriously.

Just because it isn’t about men doesn’t mean it’s in any way ignoring the fact that that sort of objectification exists. So please, stop whining.

Now think about an ad you’ve seen that featured a man doing something demeaning or displayed in a violent or stereotypical way. If you think these are okay, that women are just whiny bitches or that everyone is too touchy, LIST THE ADS THAT DEPICT MEN THIS WAY.
