The 13 Most Bizarre Anti-Smoking Print Ads In The World

This isn’t the usual batch of ads you’ve seen elsewhere.

1.

Via France.
The French, I have found in my eight years of covering the ad industry, are really into portraying bestiality in their advertising.

2.

Via Brazil, home of the most batshit insane art directors in the world.
This is just terrible, idiotic, misplaced borrowed interest HOOEY.
Also, HAHA, they were wrong.

3.

Freaky and — I think — effective campaign via India.
Ad agency: Ogilvy, India.
Second ad below.

5.

Via Peru.
Yeah-no: I’m going to have to go with standing on a huge melting popsicle as a more stupid way to commit suicide.

6.

“Cigarettes Smoke People.”
LITERAL AD IS LITERAL.
Another five minutes, and they won’t be able to pick up the check.
Via Canada.

7.

Ad for Nicotinell gum, via Thailand.
That’s the Grim Reaper all gummed up.

8.

Via Romania.
Nice artwork. For an orgy.

9.

Via England.
Ouch. Again very literal, but maybe effective?

10.

Tanks again, Brazil.
ART DIRECTOR GONE WILD!

11.

“This is my rifle, this is my gun…”
Poster put up in army barracks in Finland (really).

12.

OK, this is a pretty cool one via Brazil.
Hitler is actually made of over 13,000 cigs!
Translation: “Cigarettes kill more.”
Here’s a video of the making of the thing.

13.

And, France again.
This one many of you have probably seen before.
But, I couldn’t keep it off the list.
Translation: “Smoking is being a slave to tobacco.”
