Where the Hell did Drugfree.org get this scenario from? A focus group? Some “guy?”
The kid’s change-of-voice screeches just pile on the Funny.

This looks more like a ‘How NOT to Parent’ ad. The kid doesn’t look like he’s a drug user, and the father just looks unable to cope. As a person in the ad biz, I see this as more of a failure. There are much more effective peer ads targeting kids than this.

It’s not the dad on drugs, it’s the kid. The dad just doesn’t know how to deal with issue and does what he think is best to resolve it. But taking stuff away from kids doesn’t work, talking to them does. Way too often parents don’t know how to talk to their kids. Parents often accept a “I’m fine” or “Fine” conversation from their kid. That’s not talking, that’s distancing. So when an heavy issue comes up, the parent will act negatively and will just distance their kid even further.
