Le Printemps presents its subject matter in a far more sexual way than the Jackson portrait. Disengaged with the cherubs, Jackson is presented as their (bizarrely oversized) peer. I don’t think Jackson ever became an adult, emotionally; I think he befriended children because, after years of abuse, he longed to identify with them. Sad, really.
