Once left paralyzed from the waist down after a skiing accident, Katie was told she would likely never walk again. But this Thursday, August 7th, she will climb Mt. Kilimanjaro -- and for a good cause!

Katie will be climbing as part of a fundraising effort to benefit a volunteer organization called May We Help which invents, modifies or adapts devices that improve the quality of life for those with physical disabilities. To donate, visit: https://www.crowdrise.com/Kili2EngineerABetterTomorrow/fundraiser/ericoberwise

The fundraiser, called Raising Kilimanjaro, was created by Eric Oberwise in January 2014 with a goal of $20,000. He will be joining Katie on the climb, which will be an epic ending to the 2.5 months that he has already spent in Africa working as a volunteer engineer. More about his experience can be read on his blog: http://emoberwise.tumblr.com/
