Well shut my damn mouth! This was posted on BF? I’ll call Jesus and tell him that it’s time to come down and tap dance! I can tell by reading the comment feed that the Obamajugend aren’t happy, though.

Uh, no. The question was a monumentally stupid sendup to a Washington Press Corps that will do just about anything to protect the Obama Administration and the Democratic Party in power. McCain’s response was the correct one.
This was actually an extremely insightful piece by Ellis, who I consider to be a mouthpiece of the Republican Establishment. Mead is right; the Democratic assumptions undergirding the New Deal are passing into history and Obama missed his chance to be a Transition President. Now he is becoming a reactionary-Yesterday’s News. Good column, John. Too bad the Democrats decided to become Brezhnevites. A Republican ticket, to win and govern effectively, must establish a mandate to govern during the campaign. That’s what Reagan did in 1980. That’s what both Bush campaigns failed to do. If Romney would but have the courage to be honest about the challenges ahead to contrast with Obama’s stunning dishonesty, the nation would turn to him. But, he’s Romney. So he won’t. And he will probably lose.
