After watching the trailer for Unfriended, we can see why they were freaking out. Heres the official synopsis of the movie, "Unfriended unfolds over a teenager’s computer screen as she and her friends are stalked by an unseen figure who seeks vengeance for a shaming video that led a vicious bully to kill herself a year earlier."
The only criticism I have towards this so far 1) I don't know many people who still use Skype 2) In order to hold conferences on Skype you need a membership, and no one has a Skype membership (unless one of these teens were on a free trial, then this makes total sense and my statement is useless)
The idea of found video chat footage is somewhat similar to that of Paranormal Activity 4, which comes from Blumhouse Productions, the same company producing Unfriended. Blumhouse has brought us a lot of todays horror/thriller box-office hits like Insidious, The Purge, Sinister and Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson's Tooth Fairy, They also brought us award winners like The Normal Heart, and Whiplash. Unfriended is due April 17th, but in the meantime check out the movies twitter page and their incredible cover-photo.
