    Library Builds Iron Throne For Patron Selfies

    Lord of the Seven Kingdoms and Protector of the...Library?

    Tiny Clinton Community Library, located in a rural community in Dutchess County, NY, has decided to get its Aegon I Targaryen on and build the Iron Throne in celebration of Game of Thrones’ fifth season, now midway on HBO. Unlike George R. R. Martin’s metallic monstrosity, however, this throne’s purpose is not ruling the Seven Kingdoms or wounding monarchs where the sun doesn’t shine: it is entirely meant for selfies.

    The nature of public libraries is ever evolving, and unfortunately, too many people are unaware of the services and programs they offer, such as opportunities to enhance computer skills, pick up a new hobby, (or, in extreme cases, to rule Westeros). The public library is, in many ways, contemporary civilization’s best-kept secret. Since libraries are only as imaginative and innovative as their personnel, it’s very lucky that librarians are such a passionate bunch.
