This Sunday, the USA Network aired a marathon of episodes of Law and Order: SVU, which specifically featured Detective Olivia Benson, played by Mariska Hargitay, as an undercover agent.
You know, since she can't be sexy just being an intelligent detective.
You know what's not sexy, USA? Belittling a term like "victims," and twisting it to attract viewers that they might catch a glimpse of the beautiful Hargitay role playing as a hooker.
Replacing a word in an acronym may seem like a small thing, but when you do it in a way that's so distasteful it needs to be noticed. Placing the focus of a marathon on whether a character will appear more scantily clad instead of the content of the show is outrageous. The network should be ashamed.
Detective Benson has come a long way and she wouldn't have time for your foul attempt at playful humor. She's a strong woman who overcame intense personal obstacles to help those who find themselves in similar situations.
She could, and should, kick your ass.
