1.Public drinking in the streets

In Brazil, you can drink anywhere. In the streets, on the beach, in restaurants, doesn’t matter. Sounds good to me.

2.Thong bikinis

The only time you ever see a thong bikini in the US is in a Sisqo music video.

3.City shuts down

When the Brazil National Team plays, the city shut downs. Banks, supermarkets, Mcdonalds…all closed. That’s dedication.

4.Never a dull moment at the game

During a soccer match, the crowd is constantly involved. Fans alternate sitting and standing every minute, whether it’s cheering, jeering, chanting or dancing. Imagine standing up in front of an entitled American at a June Athletics – Tigers game…

5.Reasonably priced beer

About $4.50. Stumbled home with money in my pocket.

6.They sell beer after the game

So obvious it hurts.

7.No halftime shows/BS time wasters

The soccer matches were 90+ minutes of pure action, interrupted with a 20 minute halftime. That’s it. No pump-up music, no sponsor races on the Jumbotron, no halftime shows, nothing. The only music is that of the fans. You don’t have to suffer through Maroon 5 during play stoppage.

8.Game time is predictable

The match is advertised to start at 7:00 PM, and starts at 7:02 PM. You will be out of there in 2 hours. On the contrary, you have to take a full two days off to witness a Red Sox-Yankees snoozefest.
