IRVING, TEXAS – Dallas and its suburbs felt nine earthquakes ranging from 1.6- to 3.6-magnitude on Tuesday, according to the US Geological Survey.
The first major quake was a 3.5-magnitude tremor along the Balcones Fault near the Texas Stadium, the previous home of the Dallas Cowboys. The USGS reported the 3:10 p.m.-quake could be felt in Arlington, Plano, Irving and other Dallas-Fort Worth suburbs.
Irving's Earthquakes
The biggest tremor – a 3.6-magnitude quake – hit before 7 p.m.
The ninth and final tremor was a 3.1-magnitude quake in Irving near Texas state highways 114 and 183 and Loop 12, according to the Dallas Morning News.
The Dallas area had numerous water main breaks, but city officials told the Morning News that it was not completely caused by the quakes as Dallas has had freezing or near freezing temperatures for the past week.
