14 Things You Need To Know About Cabrini's SEaL Office

A guide to your Cabrini social and leadership experience from the Center for Student Engagement and Leadership.

1. We rock Orientation

Those wild, fun, caffeinated Orientation Leaders that move you in, lead icebreakers to help you get to know your peers and energize you as you learn about all that Cabrini has to offer -- they disperse at the beginning of the day from our office. Want to become one? The selection process takes place early in the Spring semester.

2. We go ALLLL out for Cavalier Spirit Week and Homecoming

With several departments on campus, we plan a variety of events for a week-long celebration of Cavalier pride. Get pumped at the Spirit Week athletic competitions, carnival and bonfire (did someone say s'mores??). Flaunt your blue and white in the Homecoming parade, enjoy a delicious picnic lunch, hop on the trolley to explore Wayne with your parents, win big at Big Prize Bingo, and more! GO CAVS!

3. LEADStrong is our way of helping you reach your highest potential

Students with all levels of leadership experience can discover their leadership abilities, hone their skills, and gain an edge on the competition in the workplace. The best part is you can tailor LEADStrong to your interests and complete it at your own pace--we know everyone's busy! Every participant gets a staff mentor who is invested in their growth and serves as a personal leadership guide. Not bad, eh?

4. You can be the President...in one of our many student organizations!

Interested in dancing, radio production, raising money for cancer, anime, mental health awareness, knitting or all of the above? There's a club for that. With over 40 clubs and organizations, there's always something going on and plenty of leadership opportunities. Check out the Involvement Fair at the beginning of the semester to sign up for clubs, and if you don't see one that appeals to your interests, you can always create a club yourself!

5. We're SuperPhans of Cabrini Night at the Phillies

We live for that amazing night in September when the entire Cabrini community heads to Citizen's Bank Park to support the Phillies. Every year there's a new t-shirt and knit hat to commemorate the night--just in case Cabrini gear wasn't already your entire wardrobe.

6. CAP Board ensures YOU will never be bored

We advise the Campus Activities and Programming (CAP) Board, which plans the highly anticipated Mr. and Miss Cabrini Pageant, Freak Week Halloween events, Broadway trips, EPIC week, comedians, musicians and everything in between! CAP Board was recently shown on Last Comic Standing 8 from when comedienne Tracey Ashley performed in Grace Hall. Yeah, they're kind of a big deal...

7. We offer discounted movie tickets and Septa train passes

Bank statement matches your GPA? You can still enjoy the newest flick and take advantage of all that Philly has to offer. Students can buy two $2 movie passes each week in the SEaL Office, and one week every month (check your activities calendar to determine which one) students can purchase $4 round-trip train tickets for the R5 line through our Fast Track to Philly program.

8. SGA advocates for students

We also advise the Student Government Association, which serves as the voice for Cabrini students. Want your opinion heard? Contact one of your friendly class senators or a member of the Executive Board.

9. Hank <3s us!

Hank is the friendliest, most fashionable seal you will ever meet! Or at least on Cabrini's campus. Hank represents SEaL at all of our events and loves cuddling with affectionate students!

10. And we <3 commuter students!

Commuter students have a special place in our hearts! We plan events that are convenient to commuter students' schedules, such as a silly photo shoot, greeting card and "Thriller" dance lesson. We welcome commuter students to use our couches to relax on between classes.

11. We pick out SWEET prizes for you to win at Bingo and Quizzo Nights

You can win gift cards, iPods, movie packs, Cabrini gear and more at Bingo and Quizzo team trivia nights. Check your activities calendar to find out when the next one will be held!

12. You can recharge at our Charging Station

Phone's about to die? Forgot your charger at home? No worries! Installed during the 2013-2014 school year, SEaL now has a charging station equipped to charge Droids, iPads and iPhones (yes, including the iPhone 5). Stop by and recharge between classes!

13. Our staff are pretty cool--if we don't say so ourselves

Anne, Amber, Lisa, the leadership intern(s) and student office assistants make the SEaL office in the Widener Center a place students love to hang out. Come say hi, we love our students!!

14. Candy, Candy, Candy!

We're kind of like grandma in that we like to load you up with sugar and then send you home. We pretty much always have candy in our office, and not gonna lie, it's the good stuff. Stop by to use our M&M dispenser or grab other treats from our assorted candy bowl.
