Margaret Seltzer, writing under the pen name Margaret B. Jones, has admitted that her book, Love and Consequences, is all made up. The Times called the book, which is about growing up in Southern California's gangland, a "humane and deeply affecting memoir." But after the author appeared in a profile for the paper's Home and Garden section, her sister called the Times and spilled the beans.
