Ten Things People With Glasses Are Tired Of Hearing

Let's face it, those of us with glasses are sick and tired of hearing the same jokes and questions over and over again. If you see a cute girl who wears glasses, avoid mentioning them. She's heard it before. In fact, avoid saying any of the ten following things to someone with glasses.

"Wow, you look smart."

Yes, for some reason all the intellectually advanced characters seem to have worn glasses. So what does that say about you?

"Why don't you wear contacts?"

Not everyone enjoys touching their eyes, buddy. Some people find it incredibly difficult to do, actually.

"Have you considered LASIK?"

Have you considered handing over $4,000? We sure could use two for each eye.

"When did you start wearing glasses?"

Probably around the same time we needed to be able to aim our fists at people who ask this question all the time. Seriously, drop it.

"Can you see how many fingers I'm holding up?”

If we're wearing our glasses, the answer is yes. Yes we can. If not, take the opportunity to run before we can see again.

"Can I wear your glasses?"

Um, no. Don't ask anyone this – ever. If they have to wear glasses to see, they aren't likely to lend them to you so you can make a fashion statement or say, "wow, you're blind!"

"Can you see without your glasses on?"

Just because someone wears glasses doesn't mean they're blind. According to Dr. Bishop & Associates, in many cases, the glasses themselves just augment whatever vision is still there. That said, if someone could see effectively, they probably wouldn't wear glasses, would they?

"Your glasses make you look older!"

To anyone who has ever said this: thank you. Your glasses-wearing fellow humans are so pleased to know they appear to be aging at an accelerated rate. Make sure to inform anyone you see of this.

"Are those real?"

Unless you see a pair of overalls or an ironically used clown nose, then chances are the glasses are real.

"Oh, I know someone else who has astigmatism!"

Good for you? Knowing someone else who has poor vision doesn't make you special.

People who wear glasses aren't mean and foreboding, but there are certain phrases that just get very, very tiring after a while. Check this list before asking a question.
