eBay Seller Walks Aways With Over $90k For A Videogame

One of the rarest Nintendo video sold for a hefty price. You may be sitting on a fortune and never knew it.

Today after 328 bids, eBay user Muresan ended his auction for NES Nintendo World Championship Cart 1990 with the final bid of $99,902.00. Muresan started his auction on Janurary 24th, with a starting price set for $5,000.

While not in mint or good condition, the game is still playable and very rare. There are only 116 in existence and only 90 were given out to contestants. The counterpart to the gray cartridge is the gold cartridge which is even rarer with only 26 ever made in production. This 25 year old game is one of the rarest Nintendo video games, it currently holds third place in rarity to Stadium Events and Nintendo Campus Challenge.

Surprisingly this cartridge is worth almost $100,000

Since the internet has been buzzing with news about the game and cartridge since Muresan posted the auction, two more cartridges have appeared for auction on eBay. One gray in good condition cartridge with the sticker still in place is currently being sold by eBay user 2lowd with the starting price of $4,999.99, similar to the exact starting price of Muresan. 2lowd has had 14 bids thus far and the bid currently holds at $10,000. With 6 days left of the auction, it will be exciting to see how high 2lowd's item will go for.

A gold Very Good condition cartridge without the sticker is also up for auction being sold by eBay user Mtnlife. Mtnlife also had a starting price of $4,999.99, however has a few extra days on the auction. Currently it sits with 2 bids at $5,049.99. Seeing how the gold cartridge is even rarer then the gray cartridge, it will be interesting to watch where the price for this one ends.
