Carles Rexach, a former Barcelona coach, has sensationally claimed Angel Di Maria was sold by Real Madrid because he was "too ugly".
Yet Rexach, who also played for Barcelona, claims Real Madrid chairman Florentino Perez is trying to build "an international brand" of beautiful players.
When speaking to Spanish media outlet Regio7, Rexach said: "Florentino Perez looks at the world market and wants a team of Galacticos for everyone to admire."
The comments are confusing considering Di Maria was effectively sold to better accommodate Gareth Bale, a player not widely known for his good looks.
Since his move to England, Di Maria has struggled to produce his best form consistently and was substituted at half-time during United's 2-0 win against Sunderland on Saturday.
This isn't the first time Rexach has been widely reported on for his super weird opinions, though.

Referring to Messi's form last season, the alleged quote read: "I think that last season he ate more pizzas than he should have done or was necessary." The coach has recently moved to deny these remarks.
However, Lionel 'Margherita' Messi still managed to notch up 41 goals in 46 appearances last season.
