The NSW Police Force Probably Need To Rethink How They Name Awards

    Heart in the right place, dictionary missing.

    NSW Police Force's current homepage has sparked some controversy.

    The naming of the "Domestic Violence Practitioner of the Year" award had a few people scratching their heads.

    Really @nswpolice? When you were naming this award no one raised any issues with it??

    @Kate_McClymont @nswpolice @lucethoughts probably takes 3 levels of approval for stationery requests - and this goes through unchecked!

    To their credit, NSW Police were quick to respond:

    @Kate_McClymont This a serious and genuine award to recognise officers who provide outstanding service to support & protect DV victims.

    But most were still put off by the unfortunate naming.

    @nswpolice @Kate_McClymont I think you’re missing the point. It’s not the award, it’s the stumblebum name of it.

    @Kate_McClymont @JuliusFlywheel @nswpolice @lucethoughts - I find it offensive. A practitioner is s/one who practices ..... #nswpol

    @nswpolice @lucethoughts @Kate_McClymont Missed the point. The phrase should be "Domestic Violence *Protection* Practitioner".
