8 Global Ad Campaigns That Exploit 9/11
Let's face it, we self-centered Americans need a reminder from the global community every once in a while that there are FAR worse things out there in the big, scary world than having terrorists slam jet planes into our workplaces and landmarks. Here are just a few examples of things worse than 9/11 that we need to be mindful of. Thanks, global community, for pointing out our short-sightedness.
-
1) Brazil: World Wildlife Fund and DDB Brazil
Because tsunamis > terrorists.
-
2) Dubai: The Khaleej Times
Full-page, anti-smoking advertisement that reminds us that smoking is much worse than 9/11.
-
3) France: Solidarites
Bad drinking water is worse than 9/11 AND the Titanic. Silly Americans.
-
4) Spain: El Pais
There's nothing like turning the 9/11 disaster into a "what's wrong with this picture" game.
-
5) New Zealand: DDB New Zealand for ASH (Action on Smoking and Health)
OK, OK, we get it. Contrary to what we learn on Mad Men, smoking is BAD!
-
6) Moscow: The Moscow News and BBDO Moscow
Bring your kids in for a fun craft activity. Today, we'll be making a paper replica of death and destruction.
-
7) France (again): BBDO and Defi Pour La Terre (Challenge for the Earth)
At least this one was done for a worthy cause. Trees! It would be a real shame if any more trees died.
-
8) France (yet again!): Courrier International and Saatchi & Saatchi France
...and France nails the Hat Trick. If only the WTC had been shorter, tragedy could have been avoided. "Learn to Anticipate" indeed! Thanks, France!
