“The Spirit of Christmas” — Animated on actual 16mm film using real cut out paper. (South Park is computer animated with custom software meant to simulate the original cut-out paper look — but MUCH faster.) This short went “viral” old-style, first w/ everybody sharing it via dubbed video cassettes (like I did and broadcast on the school TV station), then revived on “the world wide web” as a link in emails to a downloadable Real Video clip.  Now, for those who love South Park, “The Spirit of Christmas” seems quaint. Nothing extraordinary here relative to what South Park is capable of. But at the time this guilt-inducing pleasure was peeing-on-the-linoleum hilarious, in shockingly bad taste.
