The Life Of An Unpaid Intern

Interning (unpaid) is the best and worst thing that can ever happen to anyone!

It's the end of sophomore year, you've taken that one intro class and you feel ready to take on the real world. You think to yourself, "It's time to get an internship!"

You sit down one day and apply to a few that sound pretty awesome

You read the fine print and see that they're unpaid, you freak out a bit but it's ok because we all have to pay our dues right?

You get a call from a few of the companies for an interview and you get super excited!

OMFG! You got the internship, they chose you out of all of those other students! Be proud!

You get flustered the first few days because you're not doing anything right and you can't understand any of the jargon. It's getting to be too much for you!

On top of that, you hear your boss spit out his coffee from the other room because it was the wrong order, so you freak out!

Alright, the first month has passed, you're starting to get the hang of things. You perfect the art of coffee ordering and you understand most of what they're saying.

Although you're starting to settle in to work, you realize your summer savings are running low, so you start to worry.

You get a part time job at night that you aren't too excited about especially after a long day of school and being at your internship and you are just not in the mood for customers.

Your diet consists of only ramen and whatever free food they have at the office to save a couple of bucks.

You live like this for 3 months, then realize your internship is soon coming to a close.

The end of the internship has arrived and you're so full of feels! You're relieved it's over, you're sad you're leaving all the amazing people you left, and you're scared about what do next.

In the end though, you realize that it was all worth it. You met amazing people, you learned incredible work ethic, your resumé has some experience to show, and your boss gave you a kick ass letter of rec.

And now, you're ready to start the process all over again!
