A south metro father is charged with assaulting his four-week-old daughter.
Tom Ampe, 22, of Savage is out of jail on bail Tuesday night after Scott County charged him with first degree assault.
Prosecutors say his infant girl has more than 50 bone fractures on her ribs, arms, legs and knee. She was four weeks old at the time of her injuries and has Down syndrome.
According to court records, Ampe grew frustrated with his daughter's crying in July. He admitted in a complaint, to "grabbing arms, wrists, flipping her over," even squeezing and shaking her several times. Documents say hospital tests revealed 56 bone fractures, and bruising and bleeding on her brain.
