With Ireland set to go to the polls on May 22 in order to vote on legalising same-sex marriage, one Dublin-based paper company has become fed up with many of the lies propagated by some no-vote campaigners.

Daintree Paper recently launched a campaign entitled ‘A Shred of Decency,’ which they claim is designed to take “the lies and hate out of the debate.” Unhappy with the false information being spread in advance of the referendum, the company announced that it is aiming to collect “any negative and dishonest flyers, leaflets and online literature” which will then be shredded and turned into wedding confetti.

All of the proceeds raised from the campaign will go directly to YesEquality, one of the main campaign groups calling for a yes vote in the referendum.

Daintree Paper has been exceptionally vocal in its support for the Yes Campaign, ever since coming under new management. Paul Barnes, the company’s previous owner, landed himself in hot water when in 2013 he removed a same-sex wedding topper from the store’s stock citing religious grounds. Barnes sold the company a short time later.
