How to Identify a Warm-Toned Person Versus A Cool-Toned Person

1. Look At Your Veins

"Warm" people have veins that look green rather than blue. They appear to be green because most warm people have darker skin with orange, yellow or red undertones. If the veins are blue, viewing them under yellow-tintd skin will make them appear green (if you went to elementary school, you'll know that Yellow + Blue = Green).

"Cool" people's veins will still have the blue hue because their skin has blue undertones. Unless you are completely clueless in terms of color, you'll know that Blue + Blue = Blue.

2. The Jewelry Test

As earlier stated: warm people have warm undertones, cool people have cool undertones. Warm colored jewelry complements warm colors, and cool colored jewelry complements cool colors. It's not rocket science when you think about it.

Think of it as a monochromatic color scheme. monochromatic colors go together because they are similar and look better together. Your skin is the same way; tan people look best in gold, pale people look best in silver.

3. The Neutral Test

Think about it: would you look better in tan, rose gold colors or bright whites and dark blacks?

Warm toned people benefit from wearing neutrals because (again) they complement the undertones in their skin. The whitest whites and the blackest blacks flatter cool people because there are no noticeable warm tones in black and white.

4. Hair and Eye Colors

Normally, cool people have eyes that are blue, gray, or green and have blond, brown, or black hair with blue, silver, violet and ash undertones. Contrarily, warm people usually have brown, amber, or hazel eyes with strawberry blond, red, brown, or black hair. Their hair tends to have gold, red, orange, or yellow undertones.

When you’re in the sun, does your skin turn a honey brown color? Or does it burn and turn pink first? If you tan first, you guessed it. You're warm! While cool tones burn (lighter-skinned cool girls will only burn, while on the other hand medium-skinned cool girls will burn then tan.)

There’s no denying that certain colors will make you look better regardless of your skin’s undertone. Warm people should go for yellows, oranges, browns, yellow-greens, ivories and warm reds.
