An adorable bluegrass quartet called The Boston Boys are about to take over your iTunes. Top musicianship, lovable lyrics and a beautiful blend of Americana, Jazz and bluegrass will leave you replanning your entire work playlist. Although currently a Brooklyn based group these musicians met as students at Berklee School of Music. Berklee turns out exceptional musicians and super successful alumni such as Esperanza Spalding and Roy Hargrove. So it is unsurprising that the vocals, bass, drums and fiddle are impeccable. These guys sound really good. Plus their sound brings out the hipness of bluegrass and folk rock not totally tapped in mainstream. These guys sound awesome, look great plus their songs are super catchy with lovely lyrics.
I'm not the only one to notice the talent of The Boston Boys. In fact, they have already played for President Obama during his re-elect campaign, toured the Middle East through an American Music Abroad sponsorship and opened one of my favorite New York City based artists, Margaret Glaspy. Their latest EP is set for release on October 8th but you can catch a preview of "Keep You Satisfied" by visiting their bandcamp site. They even made an awesome EP Preview video, you can check out below.
Personally "Hypnotized" is my favorite music video of The Boston Boys and although this is from their old album I feel like this track still gives a great idea of their sound. Hypnotizing but totally grounded in organic melodies and bass lines. Speaking of that bass, Josh Hari you make it sound so so good. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
Berklee School of Music side trivia: Melissa Etheridge and Aimee Mann graduated the same year. Could they be friends? Can I be the 3rd friend?!? Mel, Aims...message me.
