In August 2012 Grown Up Avenger Stuff released their rock album, "Alive" setting off a heavy touring schedule focused in the south. Based in Charlotte, NC, Grown Up Avenger Stuff is a rock band mixing styles from the Yeah Yeah Yeahs and Queens of the Stone Age. Their blend of female vocals and rock arrangements complement each other, strengthening the band's sound.
Bandcamp live streams their album, giving listeners a preview to Grown Up Avenger's high energy shows. In the past year Grown Up Avenger's tour schedule has been consistent, a testament to their success as a live band. In North Carolina they played such festivals as Live Out Loud Music Festival and Femme Fest plus concerts in Canada like Ft Sask Fest. In addition to heavy touring the band has won multiple accolades in their hometown making them undoubtedly Charlotte's pride and joy rock baby. Not surprising. Grown Up Avenger Stuff spent the last year opening for bands like Hunter Valentine and Vanity Theft.
There is definitely a female empowerment vibe with the group but this is only seen through bookings like Girl Power Fest in Charlotte or their shared billings with other female based bands. The actual music produced isn't convoluted with political stances on music issues. The sound is simple pure rock with unapologetic vocals and explosive arrangements filled with the appropriate amount of distortion and build.
