    Josh Worden's Slow Burn

Atlanta based artist calls upon Frank Ocean and Toro y Moi as influences for his full length album, "Always This".

"Always This" is the first full length album from Atlanta based artist Joshua Worden. And it's good. Like really good. Worden weaves soulful grooves with indie vibes and a hip hop/electronic flair. That may sound strange but think RJD2's "Making Days Longer" or Toro y Moi's, "So Many Details". Just like these guys, Worden makes it work beautifully. Each track on the 10 song album is a lovely slow burn that makes me want to sit back and chill as I watch my man cross the room. Too much? Try to listen to Midnight and tell me different!

I told you! Joshua Worden croons with a lovely drum kick edge thanks to his partner in crime, Will Montgomery. Montgomery handles drums, backup vocals and samples while Worden pretty much has everything else on lockdown. And can we discuss the lovely horn sample on Worden's track, "Marrow"? Not surprising Worden is a jazz guy and this is most definitely a good thing. He understands structure and reminds me of Robert Glasper Experiment. Which is an entire movement of it's own and if you haven't become hip to Afro Blue or Teen Spirit I suggest you start listening immediately.

Sadly no upcoming 'slow burn' shows are scheduled for New York City, so I must go without. However if you are close to the Florida or Georgia area in August then you are in luck! If not, trying tweeting him and requesting a show. Worth a shot, right?
