New Google Earth Hack Lets You Play Nuclear War

If unparalleled catastrophe is the type of thing that gets you going, it's your lucky day. I mean, seriously. Haven't you always wanted to know just how much explosive power it would take to completely wipe out everything and everyone you know?

Today, a new Google Earth hack is finally making that possible. Nuclear historian Alex Wellerstein, or as he's dubbed himself -- the NUKEMAP guy -- has put everything he knows into an interactive 3D experience, allowing you to make your very own nuclear war from the comfort of your home.

First, choose your desired city out of a pre-selected list or type in the name of your hometown, if it's in the middle of nowhere.

Next, pick your preferred bomb out of the list of the existing global nuclear weapons stockpile. Feel like using something with a little Russian flair? The Tsar Bomba might be for you. If not, keep browsing until you find the one that speaks to you. They've got everything from the Largest Pakistani Weapon Found (45 kt) to the Dong-Feng 5 (China's current ICBM's) to the "Ivy Mike," the first H-Bomb.
