Wrinkles in a Multimedia World
Research from The Cellular Telecommunications Industry Association states that at the end of 2010, there were 302.9 million wireless subscriber connections in America. This is the equivalent of 96 percent of the population of the United States. These days, almost every single wireless device comes with a camera. Most cameras range in the 2 megapixel to 5 megapixel range. This allows for better than life-like quality in pictures. Most of these cameras also include the ability to create videos, again with life-like quality. In the past, pictures and even videos would be uploaded to a computer and be inspected and edited to remove blemishes, wrinkles, and anything else one might consider undesirable. Then, after editing, the photos would be emailed to family and friends. More and more, wireless devices can connect seamlessly to Facebook and Youtube and immediately upload photos and videos on the internet immediately for all to see without the benefit of editing. Once those videos and pictures are posted online, they are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week for scrutiny from anyone with internet access.
