OMG. These dog owners actually collected their pets’ fur until they had enough to knit sweaters. From photographer Erwan Fichou’s Dogwool series.
In his series Dogwool, French photographer Erwan Fichou photographs people with their dogs…wearing their beloved pets’ hair. The dog owners had gathered their dogs’ fur over a period of time, before having it woven into yarn. Zany dog hair sweaters resulted!

sylviaw4 4 months agoI have a Leonberger (the large brown dogs with the black faces pictured above). As we live in Africa, I have to strip the undercoat almost daily to keep him cool in summer - he gives enough hair to make warm blankets for the homeless!! If anyone knows how to process it, I will happily donate!!

mauser*girl 4 months agoOld, old, old. It’s called “chiengora” and the fur is actually a blend between dog hair and sheeps’ wool (since dog hair alone is difficult to spin). People have been doing this for decades.

dianereissm 4 months agoI am a spinner and dog hair is one of the best wool you can get. Very warm! And also it does not smell like dog if it gets wet. I know it sounds odd or icky but its really not at all.
