The Mumbai Police Has Identified Various Potentially Dangerous Places As "No Selfie Zones"

Bandra Bandstand, Marine Drive, Gateway Of India, and Worli Sea Face are some of the places on the list.

The Mumbai police has identified 16 places around the city, at which taking selfies "can be dangerous".

The decision to identify these zones came after an 18-year-old girl drowned at Bandstand, Bandra while attempting to take a selfie last week.

Among the places shortlisted are major tourist attractions like Bandra Bandstand, Marine Drive, Gateway Of India, Taj Lands End, Worli Sea Face and Girgaum Chowpatty.

Dhananjay Kulkarni, spokesperson for Mumbai police, told BuzzFeed that they have been writing to the BMC to create preventive measures in places where taking selfies could be dangerous, especially places which tourists frequent.

"We have approached the BMC and asked them to put up warning signs, and have also asked if it was possible for lifeguards to be deployed at such places," he added.
