Pakistani "Terror" Boat Blows Itself Up After Indian Coast Guard Intercept It

The boat, which was identified as a "terror boat" by a TOI report, was reportedly full of explosives, and the Indian government suspects that it was on its way to wage an attack against the country.

On Friday, January 1, the Indian Coast Guard approached a Pakistani boat, that was reportedly filled with explosives, just off the coast of Gujarat.

The Coast Guard approached the suspicious "terror" boat, as reported by The Times of india, but as they intercepted the boat, the 4 people on board allegedly blew themselves up.

The report explains that Defence ministry sources state that the boat was on the way from Keti Bunder near Karachi, was intercepted by the Coast Guard approximately 365 km from Porbander.

The report also cited a source stating that, "The Coast Guard warned the boat to stop but it increased speed and tried to run away. After being stopped, the four persons on board the boat blew themselves up. The boat sank at the spot. Search operations are still in progress."

"As per the intelligence inputs received on 31st December, a fishing boat from Keti Bunder near Karachi was planning some illicit transaction in Arabian Sea. Based on the input, Coast Guard Dornier aircraft undertook sea-air coordinated search and located the suspect fishing boat," said a statement by the Defence Ministry.

NDTV reports that the wreckage of the boat, nor the the people on board have been recovered. However, the Ministry also stated that the search for the the boat and survivors is currently ongoing.
