The post went viral, garnering more than 20,000 shares on Facebook, with people supporting his case and even telling him to file a complaint.

When Firstpost got in touch with Snapdeal to figure out exactly what happened, the company apologised for the mistake and explained that they would refund the entire amount and look into the issue.

In an email correspondence with Firstpost, the Snapdeal spokesperson said, "Snapdeal has a robust customer addressal system in place, where we ensure that users have the best shopping experience on our website. In the said case, we deeply regret the mix up that inconvenienced our customer. As soon as the case was reported our team got in touch with the customer and the issue was resolved by making a full refund to the customer. We are investigating the origin of this issue and will get to the root of the cause to rectify this, so that it does not repeat itself in the future. At Snapdeal.com, we strive to create the best shopping experience and will continue to work in this direction."

On October 31, Krishnamurthy posted an update, explaining that Snapdeal apologised for the mistake and offered to refund the money he had paid for the phone.

On November 1, the matter reached new levels of strangeness as popular soap company Hindustan Unilever sent Krishnamurthy a brand new Samsung Core 2 Duo phone along with two Vim soap bottles.

But we still don't know how a man got a bar of soap when he ordered a phone?
