Each color is perceived uniquely and can arouse certain emotions and feelings discovering person's nature and inner world.

Color perception and significance are based on a number of factors, like culture, natural and psychological associations. Understanding the language of colors is not difficult as the latter is a certain form of non-verbal communication.

In its natural meaning color can be associated with certain thing and phenomenon in the real materialistic world. Let’s take green. It is associated with nature; leaves, grass, etc. Whereas the psychological perception is the understating of color which is metaphorically linked to the human brain. Let’s take again the same color; psychologically green is associated with jealousy, greediness, money, etc. All those associations are not accidental. The roots come from different sources. For instance, jealousy is associated with the “green, monster” eyes of Othello, the well known hero of Shakespeare.

Another reason why people associate this color to that object or phenomenon is the cultural aspect. Each culture is valued by its own customs and traditions in which color perception has its own place. To illustrate this, we can mention the color white and its significance in different cultures. So, in Western mentality white is perceived as the color of purity, innocence and in wedding party the bride should wear white dress to be lucky. Conversely, the Chinese associate white with mourning and winter when the nature seems to be “dead”. And in contrast to the western tradition the brides in China do not wear white dresses as it will bring them misfortune.

And finally, color perception can be individual. With any person the meaning of color may change from one day to the next. Red is the most energizing color which arouses emotions and motivates to take action. It signifies leadership qualities and can give confidence to those who lack will power promoting ambition and determination.

Red is perceived as the color of physical movement. On its positive side the color is used to express love, like on Valentine’s Day and on the negative side it may indicate anger and revenge. The too much presence of the color can arouse irritation and anger. This will little by little make us feel fearful and uneasy.

In China and in Eastern cultures red signifies good luck and it’s the color of their weddings like in India where red symbolizes purity.

If your favorite color is red you are likely to be an optimistic and extroverted person with high self-confidence and courage. You have ambitious and competitive personality that always strives to be the winner, second place will not work for you as you are an achievement-oriented person. You are a person of extremes, for you it’s all or nothing. Tolerance and patience are not for you; you are always in a hurry and want to do everything on the spot, without delay.

People who like red usually get angry quickly, flare up instantaneously and show violent temper due to their aggressive nature. However, they get out the anger quite quickly, soon calm down and forget about it.

Orange is the color which brings spontaneity and a positive outlook on life helping us to see the bright side of everything. It’s a warm and inviting color that stimulates both mentally and physically thus causing people meanwhile thinking and participating in conversation.

Orange also stimulates to the appetite, hence some orange attributes on the table or surrounding will keep people eating and talking for a considerably long time.

In case you prefer orange to the rest of colors then you are rather decisive and determined but not aggressive which is typical of red lovers. You are a light-hearted person who is fond of partying, socializing and organizing different types of social events.

These people are considered the life of party and are often the loud-talker in a group. However, in spite of being so bright personalities, they are very inconsistent and unpredictable and sometimes can become uncaring, self-centered and egocentric.

Blue is the color of peace, tranquility, trust, honesty and loyalty. From the psychological point of view this color is reliable, it shows confidence and security.

Blue seeks tranquility in everything reducing stress and black mood, promoting mental, physical and spiritual relaxation. No one can deny the that lying on the back and looking into a bright blue sky makes us feel calm and free.

Blue is an idealistic color that inspires higher ideals, enhances self-expression, promoting our communicating ability to speak about our needs and wishes.

It’s a nostalgic color which lives in the past closely connected to the present and future based on the experiences in the past.

If you like to surround yourself with mostly blue you tend to be a conservative and trustworthy person. Though you also have a great need to be trusted you are very careful with others until you are sure of the other person. You are not impulsive, but rather a prudent person who always thinks before speaking and acting and does everything at his own pace and time.

You try to create harmony and tranquility in your everyday life. You need to have order and principles in your living and work space. Disorder, untidiness and uncertainty will overwhelm you.

The negative feature of blue lovers is that they are usually self-pity and believe that they are victims who have done no wrong and deserve condolence by everyone.
