Are American Men Drama Queens From Birth?

Mansy went to a really nice restaurant wanting to be a high maintenance pain-in-the-ass. Me, my wife and everybody around them were happy to see them go.

What is it that makes people wicked annoying? Entitlement, upbringing or superiority? I have to ask because it's something I've seen often. Is being annoying a god-given gift? Or is it just people's basic attitude that they are allowed to walk around giving people who come into contact with them a hard time? I deal with people who are cocky and high on themselves, but people who are annoying are something totally different. Cocky people don't make you feel stupid or small because of who you are or what you are.

I was out having a nice dinner with my wife. Now that we have a baby, it's rare for us to go out for the night. So there we were, when the couple from hell walked in. We were lucky to have them sit right next to us. Right away they started with their table. It wasn't good enough. So our Mansy jumped to the tune of his girl and headed to the front to complain. After the host showed them two other tables, they ended up sitting right back next to us – right next to the Masshole.

As our dinner went on, I couldn't stop myself from listening to their bullshit. Every adult person who has ever been in a restaurant knows the difference between a wines by the bottle list and a wines by the glass list. Except for these two idiots. They ordered two different bottles of wine. When they didn't like either bottle, they berated the waiter, telling him that he screwed up because they only wanted glasses of wine. After watching the waiter try and please these two, Mansy asked the waiter to leave the table for at least ten minutes so he could give a toast. It was more like a preamble.

Mansy started his toast with how he was nothing before he met her; how she is his everything; that he couldn't go on a day without her. He was slowly killing me with his words. After he was done, he sat there for a couple of minutes, looking around. When the waiter came back, they asked him where he had been. He reminded them that they had asked him not to come back for at least ten minutes. They rolled their eyes and asked to speak to a manager. When the manager approached, Mansy began an elaborate lie of stories about their server and how stupid and inattentive he was. They told the manager that they didn't believe he cared enough, and told him they were going to leave. The manager, looking fed up with Mansy, pulled the chair out for them as they left.

Mansy came to a really nice restaurant wanting to be a high maintenance pain-in-the-ass. Me, my wife and everybody around them were happy to see them go. Why? They were rude and annoying. I don't understand. Going out to eat should be fun. Why would you make it a terrible experience that you dreamed up in your own mind? I had sat next to them for about forty-five minutes and all Mansy did was act out the whole time. The waiter was doing his job – and a good one at that. Mansy had to have been wicked annoying and tough to deal with for him too.

Why can't people relax and enjoy themselves on a beautiful night out? Because Mansy has to try and belittle another man for the entertainment of him and his girl. Maybe this is the only time in his relationship where he can relish the moment of being the man in front of her.
