Ambulance Victoria Pipes and Drums
Our Inaugural meeting was held on the 18th of October 2009. There were 16 people present - many of these are current serving Ambulance Victoria Paramedics. Graham Mummery and Don Ormiston were the driving forces in getting the band formed. They had already been playing as the Ceremonial Team for the Ambulance Victoria and the idea was developed to form a band. A tartan was commissioned and registered. We are the first Ambulance band outside of Scotland to have a tartan registered.
We have now played across Victoria and overseas. From Anzac Day at the Seymour RSL, opening of new Ambulance Victoria Stations, Clan Balls and community fetes - we have many play-outs under our belts.
Some highlights:
Being the feature act for the Clan McLean Highland Ball held in 2010.
Support to Claymore Celtic Rock Band (www.claymore.org) for their 2010 New Years Eve Concert - held in Thornbury, Victoria.
Playing in the 2012 Del Ray Beach St Patrick's Parade - which celebrates both St Patrick's Day featuring the contribution to the community that all fire and paramedic services give.
