How To Ace Professor Philp's Spotify Project

An in depth look at the world of spotify....prepare to be dazzled.

Start by picking your Top 20 artists of all time.

In no particular order: Brad Paisley, Faith Hill, Shania Twain, Toby Keith, Christina Aguilera, Nick Jonas & The Administration, Billy Joel, Carrie Underwood, Eagles, Bon Jovi, Gavin Degraw, Journey, Justin Timberlake, Michael Jackson, Sugarland, Tim McGraw, Rascal Flatts, P!nk, Britney Spears, *NSYNC.

Next thing you'll need is a Spotify Account...

Opening up one is fairly easy, although you will have to download the program to your computer. (Piece of cake).

Now, go search through those 20 artists..find songs...& make an awesome playlist.

Make sure to track the top 10 songs of each artist AND the number of streams!

This shows you which ones of your artists are the most listened to on Spotify....pretty interesting stuff right?

Sixth post, November 29th. I tried a little bit of trivia...people love trivia. (The answer is Bongiovi by the way)

Next, check to see how many songs come before the dreaded commercial.

I could listen to 5 songs before a 30 second commercial came on.

Now it's time to Discover & check streams of these artists.

I used the discover feature on Spotify and found these artists: Keith Whitley, Wilson Phillips, Savage Garden. Sammy Kershaw, Chase Rice, Skillet, Duffy, Deniece Williams, Jo Dee Messina, and Clay Walker.

ONE MORE big step. Share the Discover playlist. Do it.

Instead of sharing one track per artist, I decided that it might be more effective (and people would hate me less) if I shared a playlist made from the "Discover artists". All I did was ask a simple question.

Once again, no response...or follows.

Last step: Talk about your feelings.

Spotify was easy to use. I managed to find all the artists that I wanted and all of the songs that I wanted to listen to. With the Discover feature, they recommended a lot of music and artists that I would like..many of them I heard of already so finding ones that I never heard of was a bit difficult. I would honestly prefer to own a download rather than stream it, simply because I want to be able to carry it on the go without being charged for using data on my phone. I purchase recorded music pretty often, maybe every month or so. I buy it from iTunes or sometimes I go out to Best Buy and purchase the CD of an artist that I really like. Overall, Spotify, in my opinion would be good for times like now where I want to listen to Christmas music...but don't necessarily want it on my iPod. I can create a Christmas playlist and just shuffle through those songs while 'tis the season.
