So you found someone who's cute and smart and likes all of the same things you do.

And you want to ask them out, but you're afraid because you've been hurt before.

Use these helpful tips to woo the zombie of your dreams:

Show them you care.

Whether it's a smiley face text message or simply remembering their favorite book, make sure you show them they mean something to you.

First, hang out in a group.

The Spice Girls had it right when they said, "If you wanna be my lover, you gotta get with my friends." Meeting their friends will show that you're interested in getting to know them, not just hooking up

Grab a bite to eat.

Dinner is a great way to get to know each other. Without a movie or friends to distract you, you can really find out if you're compatible.

Don't be afraid to show your competitive side.

A little healthy competition can really heat things up. Who says smack talk isn't sexy?

Be respectful.

Moving too fast can be a big turn off. Make sure to communicate before pushing the boundaries. You'll be happy you did.

Be romantic.

There's nothing wrong with being a little corny now and then. It's sweet and as long as you're not faking it it's perfectly acceptable.

Tell them how you feel.

Though the chase can be exciting, dating is about finding someone you connect with. If you like someone, make sure they know it.
