Canine Bed Bug Inspection: What is it?

Canine Bed Bug Inspection sounds weird, not legit, and impractical doesn’t it? Wrong. Here’s how Bed Bug Inspection works.

1. Canine Check-in

The canine will check in with its handler at the place of inspection and develop a room list where bed bugs are most likely present.

2. Canine Inspection Begins

Within 2-3 minutes a highly trained bed bug dog will inspect each room in the house. With special attention given to rooms where bed bugs are most likely to inhabit, bed bug dogs will inspect:

-Mattress, box springs and bed frames
-Headboards
-Nightstand including electronics
-Carpets, baseboards
-Sofas and chair

3. Alert

to alert the handler of a bed bug infection a beagle will not bark, rather it will point at the infestation. When a room is identified, access will need to be made to determine if the infestation has spread beyond the room.

4. Detection

Most canine inspection works under an hourly rate. If bed bugs are detected, the handler will coordinate the location with the pest control team.
