2. Last week, she announced her candidacy for the House seat in Pennsylvania's 13th congressional district.

3. Her son, Marc Mezvinsky, married Chelsea Clinton in 2010.

6. In 1970, she was the first single woman in the United States to adopt a foreign child — daughter Lee Heh from Korea.
