Louisiana Higher Ed Budget Cuts As Told By Mean Girls

"And none for higher education, bye." -LA Legislature

The Louisiana Executive budget was released in February by the Governor's office. This budget includes $608 million in reductions to higher education. That's an 82% cut to colleges and universities in Louisiana.

Here's what the next year could look like with the proposed budget and a little help from our friends at Northshore High.

Tuition will have to be raised.

Holla at out-of-state students that are already paying hella cash to come here!

For those who are in-state students, TOPS may not be covering this fee increase for you. Sorry bout it.

    Classes will be cut.

And you thought course scheduling gave you anxiety before...

Forget about getting that clutch class time that fits perfectly into your late morning schedule.

Students will have less foreign language programs to choose from.

Less geography classes = more Karen Smiths

Graduating may take longer due to lack of class availability...

and having to drop classes because the university can't fund tutoring programs. ;(

Essentially, you could end up being that person that drops out of college...

and is talked about at your 10 year high school reunion.

Speaking of crack, that awesome professor you had that time will probably lose their job and resort to other means of income.

Campus may be more hazardous with reduced Facility Services staff...

    especially during hurricane season.

Say goodbye to all that extra seating in the union because no one will be there to set it up.

And we all know how people get when they are hungry.

What if campus transit has to stop running..?

If you can imagine it, without money to maintain and build new lots, parking will probably get worse.

In all honesty, with these budget cuts, there are no limits to what could happen.

It's our job as students to stand up for our education and say no to these budget cuts.

If we don't, these cuts are going to hit us pretty hard.

    But seriously...
