So here you are bringing your four year old son home from school and on your way to the car you place your loaded handgun in his backpack (you know for safe keeping). You drive off and then forget all about owning a handgun. The next day you drop him off at school and half-way through the day teachers discover that your child is a possible mass murderer (or that your a moron).
That's what happened to 31 year-old dad Adam Keene of Maine back in April of this year.
He has just pled not guilty to misdemeanor charges that were dropped on him after the incident claiming that it was all an accident. Police continue to work on a plea deal with Mr. Keene but he continues to deny any wrongdoing in the situation.
Daycare owner says the gun was first spotted by a staff member and that is was a assumed it was a toy. She states that she couldn't believe that it was real and that it took everyone involved a minute to wrap their heads around the situation.
Those involved claim they understand the situation wasn't intentional and that if it was it would be a whole other type of situation.
Wether Adam Keene meant to send his toddler packing or not isn't really relevant anymore. The thing that gets me is that when stupid people act stupid (put gun in child's backpack) they continue to act even stupider (refuse plea deal) as some sort of defense of their complete stupidness!
