Myleene Klass Ranted At Ed Miliband About The Mansion Tax On TV And It Was All A Bit Weird

KLASS WAR! Yes. Nailed it. Thanks.

If you've ever seen The Agenda with Tom Bradby on ITV, you'll know it's kind of a weird show.

It's a bit like Question Time if someone forgot to book enough guests. So last night we had Allison Pearson, who writes for the Telegraph, Sir Christopher Meyer who used to be the British Ambassador to the U.S. and was subsequently chairman of the Press Complaints Commission...

Myleene Klass, the former member of Hear'Say, and Ed Miliband, who is the current leader of the Labour party.

The producers introduced Ed with this frankly terrifying bit of editing.

Then followed it up with arguably the least successful picture joke of all time.

    vine.co

    God.

Anyway, after a chat about ISIS, the discussion moved on to the Mansion Tax. And it rapidly became clear that Myleene wasn't a fan.

    vine.co

In fact, you may be stunned to discover that all three of the other guests, all of whom it seems safe to assume own large houses in London, weren't fans.

But Myleene was the least big fan of them all. Here she is telling Ed about fiscal drag.

She also told him that she thought old people who'd lived in houses for a long time would suffer disproportionately:

It's going to be the little grannies who have lived in those houses for years and years and it's very kind of you guys to turn around and say 'well don't worry if you can't pay the tax now, we'll take it when you die', and the inheritance tax as well – it's going to be their sons and daughters who are lumbered with this.

    Whereupon Ed pulled this face.

Then she began to question his figures on how many homes would be affected by the tax.

    Whereupon Ed pulled this face.

And then she questioned exactly how much money would be raised by the tax.

Then Ed began to fight back.

    Ed added:

The values of my government are going to be different to the values of this government. I do think that the richest people in our society – we're talking about 100,000 homes – the top 0.5% of homes – we'll uprate it in line with houses above £2m so more people won't be dragged in, if you're somebody who's earning less than about £40,000 you'll be able to defer it until you sell the home.

    Although Myleene kept interrupting him.

Anyway, by this point Twitter was rather divided.

Myleene Klaas outgunning Ed Milliband on @agendaitv ...who knew?

Myleene Klaas the latest Z-list celebrity to complain about implementation of a mansion tax. Her and Griff can fuck right off.

Myleene Klaas don't like the idea of having to pay #mansiontax. Is she even aware of the effects of #BedroomTax?

Things not unreasonable to expect a potential PM to be able to do 1) hold his or her own in an argument with Myleene Klaas 2) eat a sandwich

Then it turned into a row about funding the NHS, and concluded with the singer of "Pure and Simple" saying, "You may as well tax me on this glass of water".

Myleene Klass on mansion tax. 'You might as well tax this glass of water'. Hands up who has a glass of water, but not a mansion?

    Then the lols began.

Please help poor @KlassMyleene by giving generously #TheAgenda

And everyone drank champagne and took a selfie.

    ...and after proceedings, an actual 'Political #party' 😂🍸@Ed_Miliband @SirSocks @alisonpearson @tombradby #TheAgenda

And that was the story of Ed Miliband's TV appearance last night.
