At about 9pm last night, David Willis, a man who, according to his Twitter bio, is from Dallas, Texas, found himself in a predicament.
As he explained, he was locked in Waterstones in Trafalgar Square.
Well, not quite. Because by 11pm, no one had shown up.
And on the Waterstones account, all was silent.
Meanwhile, Willis's follow-up tweet had received 4,000 retweets. And Twitter was getting concerned.
It was midnight. People wanted to go to bed, but they couldn't.
Things were getting tense.
People began campaigning.
And worst of all, Willis's account had fallen silent.
Some saw potential in the situation.
Then the backlash began.
Still there was nothing.
And then....
Needless to say, Twitter was overjoyed.
Although for a moment it looked like it was all going to kick off again.
(Yes, she's his girlfriend).
