    American Entomologist Tells us Which Insects Pack the Biggest Punch

    Justin Schmidt, an entomologist at the University of Arizona, truly knows the meaning of the phrase “no pain no gain” after dedicating his entire life to the science of insects, putting himself in numerous painful situations so that we don’t have to.

    Schmidt endured 147 horrific insect stings in order to decide which insect packed the biggest punch. Turns out, it’s the bullet ant. Schmidt categorized his findings into the Schmidt Sting Pain index, ranking 78 different species into a list categorizing the pain felt by each insect’s sting on a scale of 1 to 4.
