Which TV Badass Should Be Your Best Friend?

As the detective investigating a serial killer in _The Fall_ (co-starring _50 Shades of Grey_’s Jamie Dornan, just FYI), Stella Gibson is calculating, confident, and perceptive. Actress Gillian Anderson is no stranger to badass-dom, having playing Agent Scully on _The X-Files_. But with Stella, you’ve got yourself a friend in high places who will help you to follow your instincts in life and keep focused on reality.

The most badass clone among a group of totally badass clones, _Orphan Black_’s Sarah Manning could probably break your arms, legs, and ribs in a heartbeat — but she won’t, because when you’re on her good side, she’ll do anything possible to take care of you. Like you, Sarah’s an inquisitive person who knows how to take charge. Yeah, you two would definitely have a kick-ass friendship.

Omar commands respect not simply because he could break your ribs at a moment’s notice (although that certainly helps), but because he doesn’t give a fuck what anyone else thinks of him. Plus, she’d be the best friend to dish with about all your relationship and sex drama.

There’s no action he wouldn’t take in his pursuit of power, and he’ll bring you along for the ride. Frank may be conniving and ruthless, but when you’re by his side, it’s so much fun to watch.

She’s powerful and adept at fighting, and has grown to recognize that her skills are best used to serve the greater good rather than try to gain all the power and glory for herself. Perhaps Xena will introduce you to some gods and goddesses — and then lay the smackdown on them if need be. She’d be the most badass traveling companion ever.

Sure, she’s not the most obvious choice of badasses from _Game of Thrones_ (Daenerys, Jaime…), but Arya would make the best friend of all of them. She’s fiercely loyal and doesn’t let anything keep her from achieving her goals. If you’re on her good side, you can be pretty sure that she won’t turn on you, which makes her all the more fun to have around as a friend.

In a prison full of badass criminals on _Orange Is the New Black_, it’s Sophia Burset who rises to the top of the badass chart. Why? She’s one of those people who can pull off the badass attitude effortlessly, and doesn’t need to go around making threats or instigating violence to try to prove herself. Sophia knows what’s important to her and will fight until she gets it. Plus, if you two are friends, she can probably give you a great new hairstyle.

Sure, Jesse can be a little airheaded at times. But he is also fierce, loyal, caring, and self-reflective. Jesse isn’t the type of badass who flaunts it — he's more of a secret badass. He always tries to maintain a semblance of a moral compass in his life, and although he struggles with it at times, that’s an admirable quality to have in a friend.

Perhaps all you need to know about Buffy comes from the title of the show itself — she’s a vampire slayer. It doesn’t get much more badass than that, now does it? She is a shrewd learner, a powerful fighter, and a loyal friend. Plus, she can come back to life and all, so you know she’ll be there for you for a long time. Tell Willow and Xander to make room, because you’re joining up with Buffy as her new best friend.

Ron Swanson is the ultimate man’s man. He builds things with wood, loves to go hunting, and knows the value of a juicy steak. Let Ron take you on a journey through badass-dom. He might not always be the most emotionally fulfilling friend, but you know that no matter what, he’ll be there for you at the end of the day. Hopefully with some bacon and eggs.
