13 Reasons Why You Should Buy David Duchovny's New Album "Hell Or Highwater"

or 2015: The Year of David Duchovny

I'm not going to lie. I'm a thirty-something lady who had a hugely inappropriate crush on David Duchovny back in the day. Don't get me wrong, I still have the crush, it's just not hugely inappropriate anymore.

If you haven't noticed, the 90's are back in a BIG way and Double D is reaping some of the benefits by being a part of two EPIC television revivals. "Twin Peaks" and "The X Files".

If that weren't enough, he's also promoting his new series "Aquarius" for NBC (the first Network series to offer a binging option to its viewers), he wrote a New York Times Best Selling book "Holly Cow", and just released his debut album "Hell or Highwater".

Here are samples of the songs and reasons why you should buy the album.

Because he writes so well about basic human feelings.

"One year's golden and the next one blows." Ain't that the truth?

Because you can never have too many angry break up songs on standby.

You may or may not know this, but David Duchovny has a B.A. in English Literature from freakin' PRINCETON UNIVERSITY, and a MASTERS of Fine Arts from (the not very well known for excellence {sense the sarcasm}) YALE UNIVERSITY!

In 1982, his poetry received an honorable mention for a college prize from the Academy of American Poets. So, if nothing else, you're getting some solid poetry out of it.

    Stars

    Written by: David Duchovny

    I've been told

That some stars in the sky

    Shine a light

From stars that have died long ago

Still keep on shining in your eyes ~

    I see the light

Of a love that died long ago

    When the fire is dead

How can it be that the sparks still fly?

The ghost you left in my bed

Stars you showed on my empty sky

    Still shine, in my head

    I've been told

    That stars in the sky…

    If it's true

That they're no longer alive anymore

If they still keep on shining their light

So that I might find my way home tonight

    When the fire is dead

How can it be that the sparks still fly?

The ghost you left in my bed

Stars you showed on my empty sky

    Still shine, in my head

    I will ask ~

Of the light in your eyes

The ghost of a love that died long ago

Can they still keep on shining, shining your light

So that I might find my way home

    One more night tonight

A lot of it is catchy as F@&K! If you're not humming "I'll see you all in white again" after a listen or two, you might want to see someone about your soul being broken.

    5. The Things

    6. The Rain Song

Some are a little ironic. Like this one. It's his most "California" sounding song and it's called "The Rain Song." It's beautiful, but Julio Iglesias taught us all it never rains in Southern California, duh!

    7. Unsaid Undone

Some are pretty dark. They'll be nice to have on your playlist when you're going through a break up. Believe that! (See what I did there? 'Cause "I want to believe" is The X Files' unofficial mantra?)

    8. Lately It's Always December

Some are just plain lovely. <3

Toe tapping tunes with a singable chorus'.

What else do you really want out of your music?

New road trip anthem to break up the monotony of "Life in the Fast Lane" and "King of the Road."

    11. When The Time Comes

This song sounds like a love song from Mulder to Scully, or at least, from XPhiles to The X Files. Watch the video and feel the feels. Srsly, the lyrics soooo fit...

    12. Positively Madison Avenue

In an interview with Rolling Stone, David Duchovny said this song was inspired by a Chrysler Super Bowl commercial featuring Bob Dylan.

Because when you hear him talk about only picking up a guitar five years ago, it makes you feel like maybe, just maybe, if you work hard you can accomplish the unfathomable, too. #Inspired.
