You're a common little fellow, and reproduce in massive amounts, forming what's known as "harmful algal blooms", which isn't really fair because you don't mean any harm, you just like reproducing and having fun! Your name, Akashiwo, also literally means "red tide", which these blooms cause. You can often be found drifting through the water column in search of cyanobacteria to engulf, though when you can get off your lazy butt, you also enjoy soaking up sunlight and photosynthesizing. You sure do like to party!

You're a Dinophysis! You have a problem with people and often produce okadaic acid to get revenge on them. If there's enough of you, you can cause some serious diarrhetic shellfish poisoning. Gross! People have a hard time trusting you because of this, but at least you've got good looks. You're so cute! Your little fin, also known as a "sail", makes you look like a little boat sailing through tides. You enjoy drifting through the seas, quietly cursing all those you come in contact with. You are literally silent but deadly.

Dinophysis acuminata

Your name means "night light sparkle", and that is quite fitting of you! When agitated, you don't let it get you down, but instead you shimmer with a beautiful, blue light, creating bioluminescent tides! You are also a bit of a tattle tale, though. When something comes to eat you, you sparkle to attract predators of your predator. You're a sneaky one.

Noctiluca scintillans

You're a Protoperidinium! At certain angles, you look like a teeny tiny starfish...but you're actually a fast swimming predator, ready to engulf your prey! You don't look very threatening, with your circular swimming pattern, but you are a serious threat to things smaller than you. You are pretty reserved and enjoy more quiet time to yourself, but have a few close friends you enjoy spending time with.
