Tom Cruise Is An Icon! Why Is Every One Bashing His Choice Of Scientology.

Everyone Has a Right to Do What Works for Them, Where is the "Tolerance" America?

The movie "Edge Of Tomorrow" Got Raving Reviews! Oscar Nominee Tom Cruise has done it again. According to Cinema Blend, " Tom Cruise is flat-out phenomenal. In the action scenes, he doesn't miss a step, proving once more a believable and compelling action heroEdge of Tomorrow reminds us what a total package Tom Cruise is. He's an extraordinary actor who has an easy comfort in the moment's quieter scenes, but delivers gravitas when needed. He's sensational in the movie's sprawling and spectacular action sequences--full to the brim with extraterrestrial monsters that look fearsome and unfamiliar. His star power shines with every smile and every frustrated death wail (of which there are many). But perhaps best of all, Tom Cruise is really, truly hilarious here."

I remember as a teen ager watching Tom Cruise in Legend and Top Gun, besides Robert Deniro and Al Pacino, Sylvester Stallone, Bruce Willis, and other favorites. Tom Cruise's movies were able to keep me at the edge of my seat and engaged mentally and emotionally back in the 80's and is still able to do that now. I have have a short attention span, if something is not able to captivate me, I won't pay attention for long. Not to mention Jerry McGuire and all of the Mission Impossibles, Tom is still drawing people in to see his movies, no matter what the economy is doing from all the way back in the 80's until now.. That to me spells one thing "STAR POWER". In my opinion, not many "Celebrities" have been able to do that. Even new stars today in my opinion, lose their Star Power after a couple of movies. They just kind of fall away.

Tom Cruise has shown to be an Icon. However, I am left perplexed by the way People have seemed to find a way to bash his choice of Spirituality. It's saddening to me for this reason. Everyone has a right to "choose" what they want to do, without being made fun of. The Blacks have a right to freedom, The Gay's have a right to be Gay, The Hispanics have a right to have spanish speaking services. Muslims have a right to still be able to serve "Allah" even tho, their religion has been blamed for the "terrorism" this country has experienced. However, Tom Cruise practices a religion, that mind you, helped him get rid of dyslexia, a serious reading disability that many adults and children suffered from including "myself" "partial dyslexia" amongst other learning disabilities I suffered from, and was punished for it and made fun of for it in my youth. You would think that as American's we would have more "tolerance" and "respect" for what people choose to do that works for them.

I had the opportunity to watch Tom's Interview with Matt Lau er , again. I love Matt, great guy. However it felt like, he was set on misunderstanding what Tom had to say. I agreed with Tom that while Psychiatry deals with the "symptoms" they are not dealing with the source of the problem and there are other ways to deal with the "problem" and or disability. I believe in life when certain things that are not ordinary, happen to a person, such as illnesses, and other "quoted" disabilities, sometime a non traditional approach should be taken to deal with it.

I say to you guys, I think people should lay off Tom Cruise on his choice to speak about his religion or whatever he did to help him recover from a learning disability. Name calling, making fun of, disrespecting is not cool. There are entire organizations out there, that defend, freedom of speech, gays, blacks, and twitter wars that get started if you bash, make fun of, or violate certain groups, such as women's groups, teen groups, this organization, that organization, ect.

I grew up a Conservative Born again Christian, that was raised on Billy Graham and have a minister for a mom. However I knew that there was more out there than what I knew to be true, I was not allowed to explore it as a child, but when I became an adult, I educated myself and allowed my self to learn about other people, places, things and traditions. Each of those have added value to my quality of life and healing in ways that I could have ever imagined.

To say all that, I think Tom Cruise is actually brilliant, as a person, a humanitarian and as an Actor who is an Icon, that has "Staying Star Power" for over 30 years.

    Keep doing you Tom!
